Understanding Your Health: Screening and Prevention for Men

Men tend to die earlier than women, often from conditions that are preventable or treatable when caught early. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Thoughtful health screening can identify risks and detect problems before they become serious.

The important thing is doing the right test, for the right man, at the right time.

Bespoke Well Man Checks, Tailored to You

All men’s health screenings are bespoke and tailored to your individual history, risk factors, and priorities.

I often see men who have spent thousands of pounds on health screening packages but have not had the most useful evidence-based tests. Instead, they were offered investigations that suited the clinic’s package or business model rather than what was most appropriate for them.

I do not receive financial benefit from investigations I recommend. Decisions about testing are therefore based solely on what is best for your health.

Below are three example screening packages that illustrate the types of investigations available. In practice, however, the specific tests we arrange are always decided after an initial consultation, based on your health, concerns, and goals.

All investigations are recommended on an advisory basis. There is no obligation to proceed with any testing beyond the initial consultation.

All screening assessments include:

  • A 60-minute initial consultation to review your current health, medical history, and health goals

  • A follow-up consultation to discuss findings, results, and a personalised plan for your health

  • Physical examination as appropriate, including assessment of the heart, lungs, abdomen, neurological system, and skin

  • Breast, testicular, and prostate examination where appropriate and if you feel comfortable

  • Observations, including blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, and waist circumference

  • Grip strength assessment, an important marker of overall health and longevity

  • Sleep and lifestyle risk assessment

  • Individualised Cancer Screening Discussion (including prostate, bowel and lung cancer)

  • A written report summarising key findings and recommended next steps

Below are three examples of assessments which illustrate different levels of health screening available.

The specific tests recommended will always be tailored to you after an initial consultation.
