Feeling off? Low energy, low libido, or struggling with erections?
I'm Dr Ben Davis — a private GP and men’s health physician in central London, with over 15 years of clinical experience and dual training in men's health medicine and psychosexual therapy.
I help men understand not just what's happening, but why — and guide them back to feeling like themselves again.
When Something Doesn't Feel Right
Many of the men I see are busy, high-functioning, and used to performing well in other areas of life.
When something changes — energy, libido, erections, mood, confidence — it can feel confusing, frustrating, and difficult to talk about. Sometimes there's a clear symptom. Often there isn't: just a persistent sense that something isn't right.
That feeling is worth taking seriously. And it's usually worth understanding properly.
My role is to help you make sense of what's happening — clearly, without oversimplifying, and without jumping to quick fixes.
A Different Kind of Men's Health Care
Most men's health services offer a blood test and a prescription, or perhaps an antidepressant and a therapy referral. Few explore more than just testosterone levels and prostate cancer, or integrate physical, mental and relationship health into one assessment and service.
To my knowledge, I'm the only clinician in the UK who holds dual training as a medical doctor and an accredited sex therapist with a specialist focus on men's health — combining MRCGP and MRCP with FECSM-level sexual medicine and COSRT-accredited psychosexual therapy. This means I can assess and treat both the physical and psychological dimensions of men's health within the same consultation, without referral elsewhere.
That matters because symptoms like erectile dysfunction, low libido, fatigue, and low testosterone are rarely caused by just one thing. Hormones, cardiovascular health, sleep, metabolic health, stress, anxiety, and relationships all interact — and addressing only one layer rarely resolves the picture.
What I Help With
Many of the issues men come to see me about don't fit neatly into a single category. Below are the areas I most commonly work with — though if something isn't listed, it's still worth getting in touch.
Sexual health and function
Premature ejaculation
Sexual performance anxiety
Painful Sex
Hormonal and metabolic health
Low testosterone (hypogonadism) and testosterone deficiency syndrome (sometimes called Andropause)
Anabolic Steroids and Performance Enhancing Drug Recovery and Harm Minimisation
Fatigue, brain fog, and low energy
Weight gain and metabolic health concerns, including prediabetes, diabetes and high cholesterol
General and preventative men's health
Cardiovascular health — blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes risk
Prostate health — urinary symptoms, BPH, and cancer risk
Mental health — anxiety, low mood, and stress
Skin conditions and general medical concerns
Cancer screening & prevention - including lung, colorectal and anal cancer screening as well as vaccination
Travel Health, including Yellow Fever Vaccination
Preventative screening and long-term health planning
Imaging and investigation coordination — including blood tests, ultrasound, MRI, and CT
Onward referral to urology, endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology and other specialties where needed
When you're not sure what's wrong
You may not have a name for what you're experiencing. Many men describe:
Feeling "off" or not like themselves
Reduced confidence, drive, or motivation
Having less energy, becoming short of breath, or tired more easily
A sense that things have gradually shifted — without a clear cause
Some men have already seen other doctors and haven't found answers. Others have avoided seeking help altogether. Both are entirely understandable — and both are good reasons to come and talk.
Comprehensive Private GP Care for Men
As well as specialist work in sexual medicine and psychosexual therapy, I provide a full private GP service for men — allowing us to look at your health as a whole rather than in isolated fragments.
Many men are unsure whether they need a urologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, psychiatrist, or sex therapist — but are looking for a more integrated approach that brings those perspectives together before deciding.
Where investigations are needed, I arrange these directly — including blood tests, ultrasound, MRI, and CT scanning. Where onward referral to another specialist is appropriate, I coordinate that too, ensuring you have a clear picture of the reasoning before you go. If your care does involve other specialists, I remain your central point of contact — helping you make sense of results, recommendations, and next steps.
Working with one doctor who holds the full picture allows for clearer thinking, better decisions, and more personalised care over time.
How I Work With You
My approach is designed to bring together all the factors affecting your health — physical, hormonal, psychological, and relational — rather than treating each in isolation.
1. Medical assessment
A comprehensive consultation covering your symptoms, history, lifestyle, and relevant physical and hormonal factors. Blood tests are arranged where appropriate, including testosterone, metabolic markers, thyroid, and cardiovascular risk. Where further investigation is needed — ultrasound, MRI, CT, or other imaging — I arrange this directly.
2. Psychological and relational context
Many symptoms have a psychological dimension — even when there's also something physical going on. I explore stress, anxiety, confidence, relationship dynamics, and any psychological factors that may be contributing, using a psychosexual and psychotherapeutic lens.
3. Integrated treatment plan
Based on the full picture — not just the blood results — I develop a personalised plan that addresses what's actually driving your symptoms. This might include medical treatment, psychosexual therapy, lifestyle interventions, imaging, specialist referral, or a combination of these.
4. Ongoing care with continuity
You'll work directly with me throughout — not passed between different clinicians or seen by a different doctor at each appointment. If your care involves other specialists, I remain your central point of contact, helping you make sense of results and next steps. Continuity matters in this kind of work, and it's built into how I practise.
About Dr Ben Davis
I'm a UK-trained GP and men’s health physician with over 15 years of clinical experience, trained at Cambridge and UCL. I hold both MRCGP and MRCP — the dual membership examinations of the Royal Colleges of General Practitioners and Physicians — alongside a PhD in men's emotional and sexual health. I hold the Fellowship of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM) and am a COSRT-registered psychosexual and relationship therapist.
To my knowledge, I'm the only clinician in the UK who holds dual training as a medical doctor and a sex therapist with a specialist focus on men's health — a combination that allows me to assess and treat both the physical and psychological dimensions of men's sexual health.
I work with men of all backgrounds and sexual orientations, and I'm experienced in addressing concerns that can feel difficult or embarrassing to raise elsewhere.
I don't run a high-volume service. I'm not primarily a testosterone prescribing clinic. What I offer is careful, individualised care — taking the time to understand the full context of what you're experiencing and what's most likely to help.
You can read more about my background, training, and clinical approach on my About page.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. You can book directly without a GP referral. If you're registered with an NHS GP, it can be helpful to let them know you're seeking a private opinion, but it isn't required.
-
The first consultation is a structured assessment — usually 60 minutes. We'll cover your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and any psychological or relational factors that seem relevant. I'll explain my thinking as we go, and by the end you'll have a clear picture of what I think is going on and what the options are.
-
I assess testosterone carefully and in full clinical context. I don't prescribe based on blood results alone — symptoms, history, and overall health picture all matter. Where testosterone therapy is appropriate, I prescribe it. Where it isn't, I'll explain why and explore what else might be driving your symptoms.
-
Yes — and in my experience, it often is, at least in part. Erectile dysfunction, low libido, and performance anxiety frequently have both physical and psychological dimensions. My dual training means I can address both within the same clinical relationship, rather than referring you elsewhere for the psychological component.
-
Yes. Where investigations are needed — including blood tests, ultrasound, MRI, or CT scanning — I arrange these directly. Where onward referral is appropriate, I coordinate this and remain involved in your care throughout, so nothing falls through the gaps.

I'm based in central London in Marylebone. I always prefer to see patients in person, as a lot is gained by being in a room with someone. But many consultations — particularly follow-ups can be conducted remotely via video. Initial assessments are usually in person where possible.
-
An initial assessment is one hour, and costs £400. Follow ups are between £125 and £235. A full fee schedule is available on my Fees page. If you're unsure whether a particular service is right for you, feel free to get in touch before booking.

Most UK insurers won’t cover sexual difficulties, or seeing a GP and sex therapist. Unfortunately, as I’m a bit of a unicorn, most insurers don’t recognise a men’s health physician or sexologist.
However, if you have an international policy, for example with BUPA Global, WPA or Allianz, my fees will usually be covered.
Do please check with your insurer and have authorisation before coming to see me if you expect your insurer to pay. You will usually need to pay directly, and claim back from your insurer, which isn’t always guaranteed.
What Men Say About My Care
If something doesn't feel right, it's worth understanding why.
I offer a structured one hour initial consultation — comprehensive, unhurried, and designed to give you clarity about what's happening and what your options are.
